"This Feels Like Home"
Giving Tuesday
We are honored to participate in Giving Tuesday, a day where communities come together to invest in what matters most, a no matter what promise to the youth we serve at Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area.
Just recently we moved into our permanent home in Bayview Hunter's Point, and one of the youth we serve walked through the building for the first time and stopped at the purple wall outside our tech hub, turned to her Mentor, and said, “This feels like home.”
That reaction said everything.
For a young person who has navigated unstable housing, shifting school staff, and long waits for academic support, having a steady place that feels safe, and a caring adult who consistently shows up, changes their life trajectory. Many of our oldest youth have been with their Professional Mentors for more than eight years. They know what reliability feels like because they’ve experienced it week after week.
Our Why:
Across Bayview, school cuts, staffing shortages, and limited mental-health access are creating bigger challenges for the youth we serve. Our Professional Mentors see it up close and are there for them every week, no matter what.
Will you join us in supporting:
- Long-term, 1:1 mentorship that changes life trajectories
- Academic and social-emotional support for youth facing widening gaps
- Enrollment of 8 to 16 new youth in 2026, giving more children the guidance and stability they deserve
Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area's No Matter What promise is possible because of supporters like you!
