Help us stop the cycle of poverty and uncover a child’s real potential for long-term success in life. There are many ways to support Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area.
A strong Friendship doesn't form overnight. It takes commitment, consistency, and most importantly, love.
Becoming a Monthly Donor is one of the most impactful ways you can provide friendship to Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area. Fulfilling our 12+ years commitment to the children we serve is no small feat. By believing in our mission together, Friends can continue to show up for their children year after year.
How exactly will your gift make a difference?
We're strongest when we work together. Help us fulfill our 12+ years commitment by making automatic monthly donations. Each month, your credit card or bank account will be charged so that you’ll have maximum impact for the families we work with.
Do you own stock that’s increased in value since its purchase or have clients who do? If you or your clients have owned the stock for at least one year, there is a unique opportunity for philanthropy.
Many people find it attractive to support Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area through a gift of stock. When you contribute an appreciated security (such as publicly traded stock, bonds or mutual fund shares) that you have owned for more than one year to Friends-SF, you will receive a charitable income tax deduction for its full market value. Even better, you will avoid any capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock since you purchased it.
A gift of stock made before December 31 of a calendar year may reduce your tax burden for the year you give. Your financial advisor can explain the possible tax benefits depending on whether the stock has appreciated or lost value since the time you acquired it. If your stock has been held long-term but has decreased in value, it may be more advantageous for you to sell the stock and give cash to Friends-SF.
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is an investment account that allows you to give back to a cause that’s close to your heart. It is composed of donations made by individuals and administered by a third party. The third party is called the sponsoring organization.
After making a gift to a donor-advised fund, you will receive a tax deduction for the year the gift is made. Once your contribution is made, the sponsoring organization has legal control over the funds. You, as the contributing donor, can make grant recommendations to the charity of your choice.
Through a DAF, you can dedicate your charitable dollars to work in easy, cost-effective ways. You can benefit from tax relief while still supporting Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area immediately or over time. Additional benefits include:
DAF Direct facilitates grant recommendations from donors of Fidelity Charitable®, Schwab Charitable®, and the BNY Mellon Charitable Gift Fund®. To do so:
