NFL "Inspire Change" Initiative Partners with Friends of the Children!

Dear Community,

Friends of the Children took the stage at the 2026 NFL Draft when Tylen, a youth from the Friends of the Children Chicago chapter, and his Professional Mentor, Timothy, helped announce the Chicago Bears' third-round pick, Stanford tight end Sam Roush.

The appearance marked a major milestone for Friends of the Children as a new grant partner in the NFL's Inspire Change initiative, which spotlights nonprofits creating lasting community impact. It was also a powerful reminder of what's possible when young people have someone in their corner for 12+ years, no matter what.

Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area celebrates this milestone alongside the national organization and the 40+ chapters serving youth and caregivers nationwide through mentorship.

Stories of determination and growth happen across the Friends of the Children network every day. One of those stories belongs to Marcus*, a youth served by the Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area program. This year, a wrist injury sidelined him for most of his school's flag football season. Even while sidelined, he continued showing up to practices and supporting his teammates. When an injury to another player during the championship game gave him the opportunity to step onto the field, he was ready. Marcus helped lead his team to victory, and he was named tournament MVP.\

What stands out to me in both of these stories is the confidence and perseverance behind each achievement. Those qualities are built over time with support and encouragement.
