At Friends of the Children-SF Bay Area, we believe in the importance of recognizing the youth in our program and the milestones they reach throughout their 12+ year journey. Step Up is our annual graduation-style event honoring youth as they are promoted into middle and high school. On August 8, we recognized the graduating 5th and 8th graders promoted to middle and high school. During the ceremony, Professional Mentors shared memories of the youth they support, the growth they have witnessed, and hopes for the future. They then presented each youth with a certificate and gift bag as families, staff, and board members cheered them on. The celebrations continued September 19 with Pizza in the Park, bringing youth, families, Mentors, and staff together for an afternoon of connection. Over pizza, cupcakes, park games, and raffle prizes, everyone had the opportunity to spend time together and enjoy a day outside in community.
